Kindred Spirits
In February of 2019, Jennifer and Will worked with a small group of students at the Carl A. Fields Center for Equality & Cultural Understanding at Princeton University to conceptualize a mural that honored select thought-leaders and social justice heroes. One of the goals of the mural was to beautify the 2nd floor of the Center’s building, which is home to Princeton’s cultural affinity groups.
The mural begins with Malala Yousafzai, holding soil from which a seedling grows into a vine. The vine weaves through the walls of entire 2nd floor connecting the individual group spaces which then opens up into the main communal gathering space. Following the path of the vine are Monarch butterflies leading us through the hallway to the main space which features Angela Davis, Sylvia Rivera, Grace Lee Boggs, and James Baldwin.
