Murals
At Juniper Creative Arts, we understand that murals are more than just beautiful images on walls—they are powerful tools for community engagement and transformation. Since 2017, co-founders Jennifer and Will have facilitated numerous community mural projects with colleges, universities, and K-12 schools.
Since establishing Juniper Creative in early 2020, we have created close to 40 murals located in schools and on public buildings across Vermont. The majority of our murals were created using a youth and community-engaged approach that involved thousands of people in the planning, design, painting, and installation of the murals.
Community Murals
Our community mural initiatives are designed to help fractured schools and communities come together, fostering collaboration and creatively addressing the issues that impact daily lives. Each mural we create is a unique representation of the stories, values, and experiences of your school, neighborhood, or community. We refer to these artistic expressions as “fingerprints,” emphasizing their individuality and connection to the local culture.
Our process begins with a comprehensive approach to community involvement. Through planning sessions and facilitated interactive workshops, we strategically engage stakeholders at various development stages, ensuring that every voice is heard and reflected in the overall design. We guide hands-on art-making workshops, empowering community members to contribute their talents, culminating in a collective artistry that strengthens bonds and inspires unity.
Commissioning Services
In addition to community-centered projects, Juniper Creative Arts offers commissioning services for designing and installing murals on any surface. Our layered process, outlined during an intake meeting, ensures that each commissioned piece aligns with your vision and enhances the surrounding environment.
Experience
With extensive experience—25+ years—in creating both interior and exterior large-scale murals, we utilize a wide range of professional materials and substrates, ensuring durability and aesthetic appeal. Our expertise extends to preservation techniques and anti-vandalism measures, safeguarding the longevity of each artwork.

“Juniper Creative Arts is an educational and artistic dream team that marries engaging and hands-on learning opportunities and a family-style approach to creating a space for understanding in the areas of social justice, community, and collaborative learning. Our school now displays a world class mural on its front wall that brightly welcomes each student and community member with a powerful message of love and perseverance. Each student who worked with Juniper developed a strong sense of ownership over the shared goals of the project and left having a stake in a genuinely professionally created co-collaborative art piece.”

“The creation of public art is a complex unfolding that requires thoughtful navigation, artistic excellence and experience in public settings. Juniper Creative brought these unique skills to our project in Burlington and more. They understood the complicated dynamics of our urban site. They used artistry and intention to reflect joyful, vibrant black youth who live in our community, and the universal human relationship to nature and family. And most critically for public art, they knew how to mobilize and engage participants into a genuine and meaningful creative experience. I love how they seed an idea, but allow it to iterate through the contributions of the individuals they incorporate and engage. As a result, Liberation Through Imagination contributes an uplifting, positive community experience to Pine Street every day. It is public art at its most powerful.”
